The Magna Carta 1215 - English History

The Magna Carta is one of the most important legal documents in English history because it guaranteed the right to justice for freemen. The Magna Carta occurred at a time of the tyranny of King John, yet it was repealed by Pope Innocent III because King John signed it under duress. Even so, it has proved the framework for much of our current legal system and it was one cause of the American Revolution.
