Even though I have Adobe After Effects, I would much rather use Motion since I'm a FCPX user and Motion is a lot more optimized for macOS. The icon you were clicking at 12:16 is for *changing the layer group from 2D layers* (what's on top of what is decided by layer order) *to 3D layers* (what's on top of what is decided by Z value).

this is so helpful. I've tried to use Motion so many times over the years and always found myself bogged down by all the options. This helped me get things sorted in my head a lot better. Hi Dylan - great tutorial on Motion. I liked the fact that you didn't edit out the parts of Motion that you weren't sure about.
