If your among the thousands of men who don't have long enough wood, you have to see this! But in all seriousness you'll learn to connect to pieces of identical lumber end to end and remain strong using stuff you already have on the shelf, save yourself a trip to Home Depot with this video, try it out, impress your friends, tell them it was our idea, IDGAF.

Don't be left in the dark, follow me on the internets!

If you're going to be dumb, you gotta be smart.

For those of you who do not know " fuck" is a Canadian abbreviation for finishing up carpentry knowledge ", it is primarily used by craftsman above apprentice level. Great piece of knowledge, perfect when you think of the price of lumber 5 years after the video.

I came to see end to end finger joined dimensional lumber. When I realized that was not what you were doing I stayed for the comedy. When I realized what you were actually trying to do I was very very skeptical. Now I'm absolutely amazed enough to include this in my mental toolbox of emergency tricks. Along with some new vocabulary words.

Thank you from an older woman who specifically told the builder not to cut off the excess timber.

Exactly what i need. I mean I've seen ppl doing scarf joints and all other pretty joints, but this will do for someone who only has screws, and a drill. I got piles of scrap wood and this is what i will be using to extend the length of them.
Any chance you would do strength test of this joint?

Really good job. I would never have thought of that method. First time visit to your channel, and I appreciated that you used the whole range of the English language

As a perfectionist myself who f's everything up the first 10 times, and does almost everything in the wrong order until I get it right, it's so refreshing to see a normal human being ending up with a mega strong joint that would give professional carpenters nightmares. The Germans say "Ende gut, alles gut!".

They're not afraid to show you and own their mistakes

They swear while doing it.

Never heard a "screw" referred to as a "threaded nail, " but I wouldn't trust this joinery to hold up a threaded nail.

This is exactly how we did it as young phuckers growing up in Manhattan. My best friend Mike Malone's late great dad was super of the building, and he'd allow us to go mess around in the workshop, believe it or not- we were all of 11 years old. Mike showed me this wonderful old school trick! It's the best way to do it when you're not building decorative, but structural. Love it. We made all sorts of stuff in that shop down in the bowels of NY.
