What is the best weapon in helldivers 2?

SG-8S Slugger has unlisted medium pen and does more damage per shot than SG-225 Breaker despite being listed as lower. This thing will one shot Guards, Stalkers! and all smaller bugs and 2 shoot brood commanders!

Staying calm during fights instead of calling down everything and mag dumping into the group of enemies this guy helldivers

On higher difficulties it's tough dealing with hunter swarms with the slugger

Me, an incindiary main watching all the bugs burning in purgatory after calling down a napalm and incindiary mines + my flamethrower.

Be careful though!
after using this weapon a lot its weaknesses include pesky hunters,
it’s rate of fire struggles against multiple enemies and up close you really feel that weapon sway when you miss the shots.

My recommendation?
if you still want to take the slugger is to keep the automatic pistol on you for hunters that rush you.
then swap to your slugger for the pesky hive guards and their armoured front.
Followed up with a high AP heavy weapon and a Gatling sentry for that cc.
Leaving you with 2 stratagems are left for a flavour of freedom of your choice!

This weapon also opens crate doors around the map that usually take a grenade to open

Also staggers spewers out of spewing or trying to spew.
It also staggers rocket devastators out of firing or trying to fire rockets. Staggers shield ones too (all devastators, actually, including beserkers, giving you some room)
And its even effective as a marksman rifle, got a kill over 250m away. Also 1 or 2 taps the small bots as well. Plus armor pens glowing points on bots too in an emergency.
Get a buddy for crowd control and its very effective all round.

Slugger also has stopping power a brood commander charging at you will stop in its tracks from 1 shot, and has far better range than you’d think

Both the normal and slugger sg-8 are great and I don’t see enough people using it especially since the normal variant got buffed. The normal variant has 60 rounds reserv and hits like a truck can take care of most of your bugs and bots that don’t require explosives. With that being said the slugger just has this really great feel to it

Slugger is great, but you need a fast AOE support weapon along with it, to take out those pesky hunter hordes..

You can 1 tap stalkers, that's why I love it personally

Whilst this weapon will make the swarms a struggle, it does pair perfectly with the Stalwart. Use the Stalwart to remove all the low tier bugs, the Slugger/Scorcher to deal with medium armoured bugs, and your strats to deal with heavy. Makes for an incredibly solid and versatile loadout, able to adapt to any situation your team needs covered.

Just started using it last mission I played last night and was pleasantly surprised. Was taking a young recruit friend of mine through hard to get his extreme unlocked and it performed surprisingly well. Will equip again. Been a breaker guy till now but love the penetrating value against brood queens and guards

I use the Dominator or Scorcher, Anti Material Rifle and sometimes the Big Laser Cannon Gun. People underestimate how well this setup is... But not all players can handle it, need to be calm or you will die lol

Also it stops the stalkers from charging and knocking you down which helps when you’re approaching stalker lairs

For players who don't have the slugger yet but have the punisher: the punisher is also quite potent as it has similar knockback/stun capacity AND it's a bit more reliable against hunters.
