Today's adventure coming from Udon Thani, a city in Isaan, Thailand. Is Udon a city i could live in the future as an expat in Thailand?

We kick things off by checking out the bustling morning markets nearby. There's always something exciting to discover in these vibrant markets! Then, it's time to hit the streets of Udon Thani and see what this city has to offer. Along the way, I chat with some locals and give you my very early initial thoughts and feelings about the place.

Whether it's a good vibe or a bad vibe, I'll be sharing my opinions!

HI Wayne another really helpful vlog. I've really been enjoying these and so helpful keeping it real and showing what it's all like for others to know what to expect if visiting. Your so nice to people and you spread happiness. Enjoy your time cant wait to see your new sky lab 😂.

Good video, I like the look of the sky labs, a few flashing lights around the top and I would be well away. 😎👍

Why did people get mad about your vlogs? Nothing bad. All good stuff. It's been a long time since I've been to Thailand. I'm enjoying your vids. All from a cool prospective. Keep doing what you're doing.

Getting my Thailand fix vicariously through your travels. Nice to see some little towns I probably wouldn’t think to visit 🙂

Udon's actually quite a bit bigger than the area around the train station. There's a really big lake with huge rubber ducks on it, which is a popular picnic spot, for instance.. There's also a bit of a shopping area south of the train station. The bike would be quite useful for just exploring the town. I walked around myself, but it would have been easier with a bike I imagine.

Less than 3, 000 dollars Oz for one of the fancy looking Skylabs. It would be awesome racing around the streets of Sydney in one of those. Probably have a few issues getting it registered. Nice tour of the town mate. Very enjoyable. Cheers Wayne 🤩

What a happy chappy you are, Wayne. Sure you could adapt well to most towns in Thailand. Blue skies is a bonus. Absolute shocker here in CM, haven't seen Doi Suthep for weeks. Enjoy the change.

Wayne... You wondered about Kalasin. It isn't far from U.T. About 40, 000 people. I was there over ten years ago. ( Waiting gor my bar girlfriend's dad to die. Think he is still dying). Anyway, i probably was the only farang in town. Many curious, but polite stares. Interestingly, one of the best dinosaur museums is nearby in the state park. You might google it. Also, ask the girls there if they have a dying dad. Could be fun.

Your treatment in your Vlogs is always light hearted and kind Wayne. Hard to avoid the unstable sometimes. No worries Mate! Thanks for this one. Udon Thani has some amazing natural wonders as you get out of the city and head east. I always thought that Udon had a similar feel to Chiang Mai on a smaller scale. Thanks for bring us along!

Great video Wayne, I’d really like to hear your take on Ubon Ratchathani someday.

Fun facts for this little town. During the Vietnam War the Airport, (then known as Udorn Royal Thai Air Base) was where US fighter planes launched from for missions into Vietnam. Also in 2006, 400 skydivers formed the world’s largest freefall formation with 400 skydivers in the skies over Udon Thani.. As usual Wayne, nice vlog.

Wayne, how about a vlog of you taking the bus from Udon Thani to Rayong? That is a full days worth of travel right there. You'd be a road warrior after that one.

Don't know if your viewers would be interested but read that Udon is famous for it's silk weaving. Am sure that the skill and patterns that they make would be interesting. Stay safe man.

You thought about a little trek south of you now? Khon Kaen, Mukdahan, Surin, Ubon Ratchathani ... Then over to Tak and Mae Sot... as my friends heading back CM & the air is still pretty bad. Take care =D

retired in 2005 - couldn't afford a comfy retirement in Hawaii so our family of three relocated to Udon. My wife from Isan, and our then two year old. Was even hard to find a nice coffee back then. Its changed so much since - for the better. Wayne nice job for a three day visit. Much more to enjoy if you get another chance. Great restaurants, good gyms, hotels, super nice locals, and the airport to get you anywhere!
