🚀 Cohort 6 starts on November 4, 2023. 📔 We will be summarizing Playing to Win: How Strategy Really Works by A.G. Lafley and Roger L. Martin into a book-on-a-page
------
In this video, I'll walk you through my innovative process for reading books, capturing notes, and creating visual Book on a Page summaries. Over the years, I've refined this process, and today, I'm excited to introduce you to my latest innovation: the Idea Integration Board for a book. Before diving into the Idea Integration Board, I'll provide an overview of my reading process and how this concept evolved. I create a dedicated folder for each book I read, capturing all related files. The central element is my research page, and that's where the Idea Integration Board comes into play. I'll explain how this board enhances my understanding and provide real examples from my current reading journey. Join me as we explore this powerful tool for improving your comprehension of books and other knowledge sources. If you're interested in diving deeper into this topic, don't forget to check out the Visual Thinking Workshop Cohort 6, where we'll be applying these concepts in a collaborative learning environment.

Thanks a lot for this video. far beyond using tools, you teach learning techniques. The gain in utility is exponential. Very kind of you.

Nothing teaches as well as learning through practice. You are doing a great job

I wanted to congratulate you, this is the closest I can get to goodnotes or notability.

Your plugin is more performant than OneNote if I open the same number of PDF pages in One Notes it has a memory leak and crashes.

So do you have a folder for everything you make an excalidraw note for? Like is your vault organized by source? Could you maybe do a video explaining your folders and how you use them?

Your book processing workflow is very well thought and well structured, but also very complex. I really love seeing and working with such well organized environments, but I am also a very lazy person and I'd like to find out for myself if such approach actually suits my style and it's worth implementing. I'm wondering: do you feel you have retained more from the books you've read because of this system or because you have actually interacted for so long with the books' content (researching adjacent resources about the topic explored in the book, summaries, drawings and diagrams, rephrasing and interpretations, etc.)? Then if I were to read a book multiple times and only have 1 monolith of formatted text as the book summary and update it during every lecture, in your opinion would that equal the amount of effort to put together such impressive diagrams like the one you showed?
