When I was in the 2nd grade we took a class field trip to a nearby car manufacturing plant. I remember feeling disappointed when they told us we were going to watch a crash test at 35mph, because that seemed like nothing. Boy was I surprised.

My uncle taught me when I was 12 the seriousness of wrecks. He would let the car roll forward at idle and brake. Everyone in the car would shove forward and our seat belts tightened to our bodies. He said "see that hurt, now imagine going 20 miles, 40 miles, 80 miles, and coming to a complete stop."

It's actually kind of scary seeing a head-on crash that results in that at only 40mph... When you're driving 60, 70, etc it doesn't feel fast at all and I can't imagine the wreck at those speeds.
