Leo Fender did something very right the first time around. Did he succeed the second time?? could you play a G&L and truly not miss anything about your REAL Fender Strat?? This video may surprise some of you!

I own the G&L. I got all three tests right (probably a fluke). To me, each time I picked the track that I perceived to have a slightly clearer and fuller articulation.

I own a tribute legacy and I love it. I play it more than my fender custom shop tele. I got one right in the listening test and was a guess. Very similar sounding instruments. The bass cut will make the G&L more 'strat' sounding if needed im sure. Great video

I really like my Tribute Legacy. I prefer the tone controls on the G&L. They seem more intuitive and useful throughout the entire range. Fender makes some good stuff, too. Can’t go wrong, really.

Actually got all three. There’s something I hear in the G&L that sounds a bit more like a Jaguar. Like a more high mid-scooped scraping tone. Hard to describe, but I preferred the true Strat tone.

And the Jaguar tone is done better by the real Jaguar. Nothing quite like it. I miss mine.

I can certainly see the appeal in the G&L though. Could be a great choice for many players out there.

Great shootout, great playing! Thanks!

G&L USA owner... I got all three correct. The G&L sounds a bit brighter with more top end sparkle. I prefer it.

G&L was for George & Leo, as in George Fullerton & Leo Fender, after Mr. Fullerton gave up his share of the company, Mr. Fender kept the name G&L and called it, Guitars by Leo. Thanks for this awesome run down. I have several G&Ls, the S500, A Legacy, and an ASAT, along with a limited edition collectable. This was really cool listening to the specific differences. (I haven't played mine yet) A family member used to work for G&L, and my very first job at 18 was for Mr. Fender at G&L when it was in Fullerton. Loved your video! Thank you!

Got the first two, third was a no go. The clean on the G&L seemed a bit brighter to my ears. I'm liking these comparison videos. Keep 'em coming.

I love my G&L way more than the 1977 Fender Stratocaster that I had for 20 years. The price point of a G&L is easier on the pocket then a Fender to.

I really took my best guesses on what sounded better to me, as I greatly prefer fenders to anything. And I was wrong every time! I guess it’s time to grab a G&L

Greetings from Hungary! I found your channel by your collaboration with Andy Dion. Fantastic playing so I just wanted to show some support!
I've played a couple of the G&L Legacy line ASAT's and they were very impressive. You're getting a great guitar for a very reasonable price.

Thanks for the video review/comparison, mate! Great job!
Nailed all 3!
Been a Fender Strat US made player for decades. Have been considering a G&L lately. I bought a Squire Tele made in Indonesia in Jan 2024 for about $400.00 which, surpassed my expectations by a great deal. Your video helped me decide to dig further into buying the G&L Legacy Tribute. Thanks again!

Your Mexican Fener might be a bit out of tune. So it was quite easy to tell which is which after the 2nd test.

G&L Legacy is a Paul Gagon / BBE issued guitar. It was never part of the G&L lineup while Leo Fender was alive. Leo's development of the strat style guitar ended with the S500 - which with its MFD pickups was an entirely different guitar sound from those he made at Fender.

Just got a g&l. Love the neck. Couldn't tell too much of a difference in your test. Thanks

I have a G&L tribute with maple neck. G&L makes the best-feeling necks I've ever played.

I gotta say, even through my phone speakers, the difference was evident and I liked the S500 more. I don’t own a single G&L but apparently I need to.

Bought a G&L last year, out of all my guitars it's without a doubt my favorite one, you can't beat the tone on it, it's just so god damn clean.

I watched this video because I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on my first G&L. The sounds I liked best in the video ended up being the G&L every time. I was scared with each reveal that the Fender would be the one I had preferred, but it didn't happen. Phew!

I chose the g&l for all 3 blind tests for best tone to my ears. I'm convinced. Thank you! Fun video!
