As someone named John who's been told by a neuropsychiatrist "you see these three columns? It shows that your ADHD is peak ADHD" before, I feel this on so many levels.

Ok but in fairness that was the nastiest Raze clip I’ve ever seen in my life, I’d be yelling random shit too 😂

makes sense that many streamers have adhd since multitasking/hyperfocusing on games :0

I feel like if everyone is comfortable, those in OTV who feel like they have ADHD should get tested and see where on the spectrum they actually land. I think it could help them learn something about themselves & help destigmatize just getting tested for mental health in general. Though my idea is bit of a reach I feel OTV has that kind of influence in helping others feel more comfortable to do such things

I think growing up Asian plays into a lack of ADHD diagnoses as well. My family never even considered ADHD or any mental illness for that matter. None of my teachers suggested it either. Weirdly, it was becoming and adult and see Markiplier talk about ADHD that convinced me to get tested. I guess when he talked about symptoms and medication it made me go “wait Asians can get ADHD?!” lol

I have really bad ADHD, to the point I have to take stimulants to treat my panic attacks. Like in neurotypicals, stimulants can cause anxiety, but my ADHD is so severe, stimulants literally make me feel relaxed and in control, like suddenly I am capable of orientating myself in time and space, when without my meds I feel like I am floating in a sea of endless noise.

Adhd is not being hyperactive in itself what it entails is the fact you can hyper focus and hyper fixate. Especially cause women who have adhd tend to be less hyperactive which is why it is harder to diagnose in girls.

So how this would actually translate is the degree in dopamine lack (and noradrenaline fun) and phenotype. With ADHD you have three phenotypes: Hyperactive, Inattentive and Combined.

ADHD itself is where someone has 4-6x less dopamine than a neurotypical person which makes them dopamine conservative- dopamine is not just the “reward” hormone but the economic hormone of your body. It’s essentially like money and each task you do is like putting some into a slot machine.

You hope that whatever you put in, you at least get back, but it is easier to do things that have a more known return or smaller tasks with lesser costs than big tasks. (Small and big tasks is completely subjective)

So the “ADHD spectrum” is degrees of how your phenotype alongside your dopamine and noradrenaline is affected.

You know there’s two subtypes right?

Hyper attentive and inattentive

Idk about John, but i feel like focusing on his intensity and calling him an "extreme case" is a bit dismissive of other ways ADHD presents itself, like being super intense is the only way to have "extreme" ADHD. You guys also might not know but ADHD refers to both of the old school terms, ADHD and ADD. The new terms are ADHD Hyperactive (ADHD), ADHD Inattentive (ADD), and mixed. Its all under the umbrella term ADHD now.
