If the hotspot does not show after changing to 5ghz, try changing "broadcast channel" to 36 in the advanced options in "configure hotspot".

This guy is a wizard! I had the same exact problem he is describing. Coming from the Apple ecosystem for approximately 15 years, I hadn't a clue about any of the Android universe and in some respects, seems a bit intimidating. Apple must've lulled me to sleep by their system design. Anyways, back to my point: My Google Pixel 3 XL's audio sounded horrible! Since I'm not a wizard, not even a wizard's apprentice, I was in search of people who were in "the know". Fortunately, for me I came across this channel, followed the simple steps, and everything's truly fantastic in a matter of less than 2mins! Excellent job! You just gained a subscriber.
