So, what do you think the biggest snubs at the 2023 Oscars are, and who do you want to see take home the shiny golden lad this year?

As far as I'm concerned - "The Banshees Of Inisherin" could win everything and I'd be happy.

This is absolutely the best channel on YouTube when it comes to movies. Thank you for all your hard work. I always look forward to the Innies.

Just hearing "Leave No Trace" in the same breath as "award" takes me back to 2018 when Debra Granik's film was snubbed and I became a supervillain.

As I was watching I realized how bad my alternative oscars would be. I literally wanted every award to go to Decision To Leave. An oscars snub that should go down in the history books

I'm a feature writer, and was Scripty on an Indy (in Birmingham of all places) for the last couple months. Rather pathetically - I have seen zero of the Oscar nominees (or alternatives) from last year except for Banshees. YOU are my only real link to a world I should be (and used to be) completely obsessed with. So thank you very much, your lists allow me to slowly go through things when I have a spare mo.

It's not that I don't care. And I realise that it's utterly essential to know the landscape I'm part of. I just get so wrapped up in what I'm doing, or become exhausted due to lack of sleep that I kinda forget.

You've been particularly spicy this past year and I absolutely adore it! Here's to another year of I/F/O

great picks, don't have a problem with any of them. funny thing about tar is that i think blanchett was actually outshined by almost every supporting actor and actress. Hoss is a good pick, but my favorite performance was Noemie Merlant's

A minute in and that Thatcher bit had me in tears

Leo Grande is so good, shocked it's not up for more. RRR was a surprise, with much more depth and nuance then the promos suggested. I mean, the dude punches a tiger, set somehow I'm tearing up 20 minutes later?

I'm not sure if I'm more scared of watching 'Vortex' or 'Pleasure'

happy that "the shadow in my eye" got a quick nomination... but it's a bit sad that it didn't get more attention or an award....
but I'm also very biased... not only because I'm Danish but more because my grandfather was there and helped the girls out of the French school after the bombing... so the film is part of my family's history in a way and is personal to me....

Glad that one award show is brave enough to platform the brilliance of Beavis and Butthead

Saying that they've nailed it this year makes me all the more upset over Decision to Leave's snub (as well as a few others!) 😭

I have to admit I'm surprised RRR didn't get your best picture nod. All good and I love your channel. From one cinephile to another 📽️

Great video! I'm curious what your thoughts on Babylon are, since you nominated it a few times? I haven't seen it but I've heard many a mixed review.

International feature film has to be non-English, that’s why Triangle of Sadness wasn’t nominated there, otherwise it obviously would have won since it was nominated in beat picture. It was very well represented at Oscars overall. Wish this video gave other things a little more notice over it, it already has won plenty of other awards as well

I'd be interested to hear thoughts on Holy Spider if you've seen it.

I thought it was really impressive and was hoping for it to get a nomination for Best International Picture to no avail. I think the cast's performances are powerful on their own, but it is also worth bearing in mind that some of them gave their performances under threat of harsh punishment at the hands of the Iranian government back home.

Of course, movies depicting real life serial killers, particularly serial killers that targeted a specific group (in this case female sex workers) invite the criticism that the filmmakers are glorifying violence committed against a marginalised group; however, I think the film mitigates this criticism, even if it isn't able to overcome it, to an extent that makes the product still ultimately worthwhile. Overall, I really valued the experience I had of watching it.
