In this video I will show you how to calculate the geometric mean using your TI Business Analyst financial calculator. In principle this is very easy to do however the calculator does it in a slightly clumsy way.

Video is incomplete because it does not address how to contemplate negative numbers, which is something very frequent when dealing with rates of returns. To do this, you'd need to use the following formula:
geo mean = [(1+r1) x (1+r2) x ... (1+rn)]^(1/m) - 1

where 1, 2 and n are periods. r1 is the rate of return at period 1; r2 is the rate at period 2, etc.
m is the total number of rates,

Very helpful, thanks a lot. I have a TI-30XIIS and realized that it requires a parenthesis in the set. So: 4, then 2nd, (nth root) then (7*5*9*4) equals the correct answer. I'm using a TI-30x IIS.
Thanks again!

You REALLY had to use 1/x just to find out what 1/4 was...? Really? Spoiler: 1/4 = 0.25. Simple math.
