Carlos Santana has persistently given off vibes that he's all about two things: music and spirituality. But is the man behind the music the same one we see on stage? Here's what his bandmates have said.

For me the peak era for Santana was the Caravanserai and Welcome phase.
Still sound as good today as when they were released.

The first 3 albums remain my favorites. Santana 3 in particular.
And to be very specific, to this day Toussaint L'Overture remains one of the best, finest pieces of music ever made, together with Taboo.🎶🎵🎼🎸🎸🎸

Michael Shrieve was still a teenager when he performed that iconic drum solo in the song soul sacrifice at woodstock

My dad saved his life once, he was the only sober person at a party Santana over dosed at and drove him to the hospital.

This was a very well done video. A great retrospective of Santana through the years/decades. Only thing I would have liked to see would be comments from Alex Ligertwood who did vocals on the Shango album (which was the tour I saw) and sang on the hit Hold On.

Carlos is amazing. My two favorite artists from the early days were Hendrix and Santaña. They aren't guitar players they were composers. Composers of amazing music.

I was fortunate to have seen him 2x. The most sensual guitar playing
ever.

I was extremely lucky to see Santana live as a teen, thanks to my mom. Santana’s guitar tine on record is phenomenal but his tone live is a completely different beast

Saw Santana at University of California, Berkeley, Greek theater some decades ago. It was wonderful at that time, a younger Carlos, more towards the Woodstock era, more towards the 1970's. Ah, I'm old now; the hell with all of us.

I remember first hearing him at 15. A teenager on a beach in the Carribean. at 65...every time I hear him it takes me right back there. I can't believe he's still performing and touring. He has magic in his hands.

i met him last year. he was listening to me play my sax on the street and proceeded to give me major props on my playing and hung out for like an hour with us.

I'd almost forgotten about Carlos - but then he collaborated with India Arie for a cover of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps". Instantly reminded me of why he has the reputation he does.
