Nissan CVTs are shit. If you want a hybrid car, toyotas CVTs are fine for 200k. People drove cvts wrong is the issue. They launch the damn things, and drive well past what top speed should be. Nissan gave em a bad wrap. Have forst gear helps the transmission wear considerably.

First gear will failed when connecting and disconnecting high cycles.

Toyota, lexus has made some awesome cvts that are smooth as hell and It's a "Dual Stage Electronically Controlled Variable Transmission (ECVT)."
In other words, they pair the 8-speed tranny with the hybrid's "throttle" to move the gears seamlessly without any interruption to linear driving.

So, now when that gearbox fails at 100.000km, it will still be because of that same old bearing, but hey, at least there's an extra gear that helps absolutely nothing.
