Antares23e in Kiripotib

in December 2013 I had the chance to rent the Antares23e from Rent-a-Glider and fly it for around 60 hours.

Beim Start die Sternwarte unter dir. Schade dass wir immer zu unterschiedlichen Zeiten da waren. Würde so gerne mal den Fliegerbetrieb auf Kiripotib sehen.

Bei den Steigwerten muß man sich ja fast Sorgen um das Vario machen! Aber auch der Motor scheint gut zu ziehen. Danke auch von mir dafür, daß das Video nicht mit Musik unterlegt wurde!

Interesting that you change flaps at start from -1 to 2. The docs for the Antares 20 say that is not necessary and one can start right away with +2. Did you do that to have a better acceleration?
And I am also curious if someone did hold your wing at beginning, regarding all those vegetation?

Thanks much for the nice video. After takeoff to say ~ 1500 feet and then setting up for a low speed cruise, how longer you think the batteries would last? Also, being a powered pilot I do not understand the reason for the ballast. Could one fly with out water ballast? - Thanks
