To answer the last question (this is amber from 9X2 i just got bored so i decided to answer)
Even though the acts are the same, the context behind them are different, if i were to murder someone randomly in the street, iy would be out of impulse, i would have no reason too, but in war time its different, because even though they might not be posing as a threat it can be argued that i was killing him out of self defence.
for the second question, they are both peaceful religions, yes they have their differences but when you bring it down to the very beginning they are from the same/similar place. though throughout time and how media has evolved, stigmas of both religions have been created. so probably somewhere they are both seen as war like religions
