Just like Noam Chomsky say: it is pointless to ask wich country benefits of this treaty. You better ask "WHO" benefits or this treaty... the answer is very simple. México, Canada and the USA corporations and millionars. Not the workers or middle class, and certanly not the poors.

This homie needs geography lessons. His drawing of Mexico was completely wrong. The states of Baja California are not in the U.S. and he completely ignored the Yucatan peninsula.

When Reagan was trying to sell us on "Free Trade" agreements, he said they would benefit American manufacturing! (it didn't)

We didn't get cheaper goods. Corporations just got a larger profit margin. The goods cost the exact same. So NAFTA was a net loss because it failed on the one upside it offered the U.S.

Tysm. I was having a lot of trouble in social studies class because we’re learning it in Spanish and sure I’ve been practicing but I’m better at English. I was having trouble and couldn’t understand NAFTA thanks

According to the classics, labour costs are part of prices and competitivity. Americans tend to generalize the fact that NAFTA has only had negative impact on the American economy. They overlook, the positive side such as lower prices for many of their goods and manufactured items. The American Industry owes a lot to those Mexican workers who getting low wages allowed American firms to gain in competitivity. At the same time, the treaty benefited American consumers, since they were able to purchase goods at substantially lower prices. This is hardly ever mentioned to ordinary Americans.

Not only has it effected jobs in a negative way but the effects were accurately predicted by those who were actually there for the signing. The NY Times said it would negatively impact semi skilled workers.
Two problems with that:
1. By 'semi-skilled' they were talking about close to 70% of population. (a number Im certain hasn't improved due to massive cuts to education.)
2. This information was published the day AFTER NAFTA was signed. Funny...the newsroom can be a busy place I guess. At least they ran the story, right?

Goods may be cheaper but the extortion fees are outrageous. I ordered a book- $70.00 import fee. I am not going to line the pockets at the borders. This is a total joke. Millions of small businesses will be bankrupt in the coming years over this 'agreement' being renegotiated.
