A brief history of NAFTA

We’re taking a look back to how NAFTA came to be in the first place. President Bill Clinton signed NAFTA into law, so he gets most of the credit or blame — depending on where you’re coming from. But the idea of NAFTA actually got its first big boost with another president.

Reagan made everyone feel good. But he started so many things we experience today. Per Obama Reagan was a transformative President, and he was right.

Trump didn't sign TPP into action that was legislated under Obama, so why didn't Clinton do the same thing? Better yet, why do the Presidents get to decide these things. Maybe something like this that will affect Americans, should be voted on by the American people.

Voted for Perot and still wish he had won. He wasn't a career politician and loved America.

While some people correctly cite that Bill signed nafta into law and that that is what caused jobs to leave the country, which Bush got blamed for, one thing I've been wondering is could Bush have reversed it? Did he ever attempt to? If not, why not? That I can recall, while he was in office I never heard about any such attempt.

NAFTA was such a bad deal for the United States, entire companies realized it was cheaper to move the entire company to Mexico, make the products there, then ship them back to the US to sell. The deal was made without a level "playing" field being established, one of the rules of the agreement should have been equal pay for workers in all 3 countries.Mexican workers get paid a fraction of pay compared to Canada and the US.
