The Volkswagen Polo 1.0 TSI MT and Fiat Abarth Punto are exciting hatchbacks that dont seem out of place on a drag strip. We just had to bring the two together. A big thanks to Tanay Nellari for lending his Abarth Punto for the drag races!

Legendary Punto Abarth. Those were the days of hot hatches; Figo S, Punto Abarth, Polo GT and too at affordable price tag. Polo is the solo torch bearer right now. Disappointing to see today's market.

I own a 2010 Diesel Punto that is in pristine condition. Except for regular servicing i haven’t spend much money on it. It’s engine and transmission is made like a tank and is rock solid. After 10 years and 115000 kms I still get about 18 km/l in the city and 22 km/l on the highway with proper driving of course. The driving pleasure after 2000 RPM is just unbeatable.
We bought it brand new and honestly I like it’s 1st generation original minimalist Italian design better than it’s highly dramatised 2nd generation design. Except for the cosmetic changes it’s pretty much the same car. Definitely one of the most beautiful cars Indian roads have seen.

Honestly the polo was quite close. The only reason why the abarth was pulling ahead was its 30 bhp advantage. Its a shame that the gearbox offered by fiat was so poor, a hatch with those specs should do a far better 0-100 time.

I own a Linea T-Jet which has the same Abarath Engine but a detuned version. Without watching the video I knew Abarth is the winner 🏆. Abarth was India's most underappreciated car

Actually that 100kg difference is a big one for the VW..thats where the VWs initial comes i think..Punto how ever is always the built to last tougher one!

No Hatchback in India can beat the Abarth Punto as on date. Fiat always used to manufacture car for ride quality, handling and road grip.
Even Fiat had entered with Palio 1.6 petrol of 100ps power in India with Sachin Tendulkar as brand ambassador where VW brand have not even entered in India. Those who knew it they know what is Fiat actually for.

If the drag race was for a mile long, punto would have killed the polo as it was pulling ahead of polo at the end of 1/4 mile.

I knew the result even before watching the video, thats the mark engraved by Abarth Punto. Abarth is not just the machine developed by Fiat but it's the legendary.

Still the most fun car!
My other cars were the zen 1.0, Punto 1.6
And along with the Abarth, a x1, 2013, with rear wheel drive

When you perform such a drag race with the polo gt tsi, especially the older one with the 7 speed dsg, do you also try in manual mode or just let the automatic handle the launch?

POLO AND PUNTO both are my favorite but unfortunately Fiat was gone so, I bought a polo last June.
