DSL speed is based on distance from the dslam to your NID if they sell you a 80 and you get 60 that's because distance and the quality of the copper loop. They will drop the sync rate if your line cant handle a certain speed that you want.

I would advise against letting this company have your credit card information. They charged me $100 without providing any service, and now they are not honoring their word to refund my money in a timely manner. They charged me Jan 24, and have yet to refund anything. They are saying that although they have the capability to charge your card, they can only issue a refund via a check. Yet, I'm sure they have no intention of cutting me a check. But alas, my "case" has been escalated, which I think means that they will not honor their obligations that much quicker.

My Internet keeps disconnecting by itself for no reason, several technicians said its fine, I bought a new dsl cable, upgraded my modem firmware, but it seems to disconnect randomly all day long, not any at night but only the day like wtf

My experience different than other commenters. Looked into upgrading home internet from 20Mbps in order to cut the cord from Dish Network. Looked at Xfinity cable at 100Mbps and upgraded dsl at 80Mbps. Xfinity plan was way more complicated and expensive than the centurylink option for me. Service from Centurylink was very good. Used online chat and direct phone service to order upgrade. Worked fine. Service guy was great. No problem. Plan going forward is super simple - one monthly rate that does not change, no equip fees, no intro rates. $99 one time for tech to set up. Clean. Bye Bye Dish!

So give props to the sales rep's I chatted with. I'm so eager to find a solution for online gaming in a very rural location. I just purchased my 1st month @ $56.82 so I will comment on review in roughly a month or sooner. Just wish I would have thought twice and looked up reviews b4 purchase. I've literally spent roughly $1k this past year and continuous research since then for a solution. So 4give ms 4 trying 😂

Centurylink is one of the worst providers ive ever had. Not just the internet service...the customer service is just as abhorrent as the internet service. We paid 45 $ for 1.5 mbps . they told us we would have 40 mbps and then on instalation day they where like. Well, we cant get you 40 mbps but we can get you 1.5... For the exact same cost! Plus every time i call their customer support its an indian man who gets extremley upset and can hardly speak english who keeps telling me . YOU CANNOT UPGRADE YOUR SERVICE ! NO DISCOUNTS YOU GET WHAT YOU GET!

With Centurylink my speeds are 2.26 download speed, 0.16 upload speed, and 464 latency (not to mention 2% packet loss)

I’ve never had any major problems with service or reliability, but customer service is god awful. They overbook service appointments and I had to call out of work after I had already scheduled a day off (no timed appointments, you basically have to wait at home all day) after the tech never showed up and basically babysit them by calling support the second day to make sure they actually did their job.
