Cossack lullaby - is a poem by the Russian poet Lermontov, lived in XIX century
Песенку спою;

Безутешно ждать;
По ночам гадать, по ночам гадать;

Ставь перед собой, ставь перед собой;

My family is Polish and Russian and I remember my babica singing me this nearly every night. Thank you for bringing back good memories of that. She passed about a year ago. Thank you for bringing back memories of my babica and her beautiful singing. I may be crying, but I'm very happy

I still remember Nonna's beautiful voice in my ears. A letter so warm, that I wonder if I have ever been happy in my life, neither in this universe nor in the other is there anyone like Nonna.

Lyrics:
Spi, mladenets moy prekrasnyy,
Bayushki-bayu.
Tikho smotrit mesyats yasnyy
V kolybel' tvoyu.
Stanu skazyvat' ya skazki,
Pesenku spoyu;
Ty zh dremli, zakryvshi glazki,
Bayushki-bayu.

Sam uznaesh', budet vremya,
Brannoe zhit'e;
Smelo vdenesh' nogu v stremya
I voz'mesh' ruzh'e.
Ya sedel'tse boevoe
Shelkom razosh'yu...
Spi, ditya moe rodnoe,
Bayushki-bayu.

Bogatyr' ty budesh' s vidu
I kazak dushoy.
Provozhat' tebya ya vyydu —
Ty makhnesh' rukoy...
Skol'ko gor'kikh slez ukradkoy
Ya v tu noch' prol'yu!..
Spi, moy angel, tikho, sladko,
Bayushki-bayu.

Stanu ya toskoy tomit'sya,
Bezuteshno zhdat';
Stanu tselyy den' molit'sya,
Po nocham gadat';
Stanu dumat', chto skuchaesh'
Ty v chuzhom krayu...
Spi zh, poka zabot ne znaesh',
Bayushki-bayu.

Dam tebe ya na dorogu
Obrazok svyatoy:
Ty ego, molyasya bogu,
Stav' pered soboy;
Da, gotovyas' v boy opasnyy,
Pomni mat' svoyu...
Spi, mladenets moy prekrasnyy,
Bayushki-bayu

This might sound cringe, but while listening to this song, I picture,

1943, a mother, father and a son who is in the Red Army. He has to leave for war with his comrades the next day and yet here he is, on the previous night, half asleep on his mother's lap, listening to this song being sung by his mother while his father pats him on his head and back, slowly, both his parents are in tears while their son falls fully asleep

my girlfriend sang me this song as a gift for my birthday

she is a keeper, we aren't even Russian, she just knows I love russian stuff.

Update, me and girlfriend broke up after she stated that me giveing love to someone else or they were going to hurt themselfs, is unacceptable, so i did it anyways and she broke up with me, so cheers for apprently wanting to 'cheat on her' even though i was simply trying to make sure a friend dident shoot themelfs

well.. if anyone is wondering, my girlfriend has moved on to greener pastures, and my best friend is fine now, but now im just by myself really

Samuel Farina.
