Rainbow Stairs Illusion Explained #shorts

This popular rainbow gif illusion by the Super illusion brothers shows a simple design concept applied to trick your brain into thinking there's motion. The effect can be used in a number of different illusions to trick us into seeing motion where there isn't any.

This is done using an edge pixel that's leading the primary color and tricking our brain into seeing motion. The edge pixel is one color ahead of the main motion and because the edge is rather small we don't even notice it.

Other examples that use this trick include the rotating cube illusion and the moving circle that also appears to move left and right.
