Warpinator free utility for making network file transfers between two computers running Linux, Windows, Android or iOS. Video includes installation in different OS, demos, preferences, and tips for dealing with potential setup issues.

Warpinator was developed by the Linux Mint team, and has a GitHub page here:

The flatpack page for installing Warpinator in Linux distros where it is not included in the software installer is here:

The Winpinator -- Warpinator for Windows -- website is here:

Warpinator can be found in the Google Play store by searching for (wait for it) “Warpinator”. And there is also a Github Android page here:

Finally, the Github iOS page is here:

The two Linux distros shown in the video are Linux Mint 21, which I review here:

And Zorin OS 16, which I review here:

It's an Okapi. Related to giraffe I think.

This is something I actually need, to transfer files from my phone to my computers without a cable. Thanks!

For desktop OSes I've used magic-wormhole in the past, but this looks a little more user-friendly and a bit more widely compatible (wormhole didn't support mobile at all).

Nowadays I have a NAS with a public folder I can drop off files, but this looks useful for certain situations.

Thank you so very much, Chris, for making us aware of this program. I've always struggled with sharing files between my Win7 PC, my phone and my tablet. But no more. Never has it been as easy as it is with Warpinator. Never will I have to use dropbox for this specific purpose again! You're my hero.

Great Video and Prefect Timing! I have been trying to get my PC's, 3 Win 10, and 1 LinuxMint 20 to transfer files and you just simplified all this for me. Fantastic video and information as usual. Thanks!

Yes, it's definitely an okapi. Now I will always associate file transfer with okapis.
There have been times when Warpinator would have come in very handy. Thanks for introducing it!

This will be hugely useful for me, especially with the Android to Windows transfer, which, IMO, is better than Bluetooth file send because not all devices have it! Thank you for another great video!

Wow what a useful little utility to be aware of! I've had major problems even getting Windows machines talking to each other (as shared drives). I suppose you could use a cloud service for transferring files but that seems ridiculously complex when both machines are on the same network. We used to connect 2 PCs with a serial cable and use Laplink. Major improvement from floppy disks.

I didn't think this was that big of a deal initially, however with the inclusion of Android, that makes it really useful, in my book.

This is a very timely video for me, as I was wondering about how to do file transfers between an Android tablet and a Windows 11 laptop. Thanks!

Thank you Chris for an interesting & instructional video, I appreciate the hard work that you've put into this! The file transfer setup seems fairly straightforward, which I'm off to do no! This will save me copying to a USB drive in Windows then pasting into Linux & vice versa. The Zebra like animal is an Okapi which is closely related to the Giraffe. Another relaxing Sunday afternoon @ E.C happy days, & looking forward to your next video! Kind regards Alan :)

I've always wondered how to get a giraffe from one computer to another :D

Will be giving this a try as sometimes something as easy as moving a file from one device to another takes far far longer than it should! Thanks Chris :-)

I first discovered it when it was installed on my Linux Mint 20 with one of the updates and I love it. I put it on my Android devices after that and it's a wonderful piece of software. Although at first it seemed to not work between two Android devices, but I just tried it again and it seems to work now. Maybe an update fixed it or something else, but it's still a great network file sharing program.
