This Bird’s Aerial Skill Will Blow Your Mind

This is my favorite Black Skimmer video because it perfectly illustrates the beauty of flight and this bird’s mastery of it and its environment. Watch how it makes a full 180-degree turn using its tail while keeping its head perfectly stable and its eye on the prize. It’s hard for me to fathom the amount of thinking that even goes into this process, and yet the Black Skimmer does it all on autopilot. What an amazing animal.

It’s so cool how their lower beak is thin almost like a knife to cut through the water. I wonder if someone has a sort of tamed one of these somewhere that lets them pet it a little, I bet that would be a fun beak to pet
