Fun pimps lost control of the console version for awhile that was why there wasn't an update for a long time. When Telltale went out of business they had to bid to get the rights back to their own game again and updated it.

ngl i feel like this game needs more melees, like we should get swords, machetes, stuff of that sort because if theyre gonna make a dismemberment system, shouldnt we have more weapons that would logically dismember zombies? maybe its just a personal gripe but id kill for some more bladed weapons, and even some exotic ones like whips or even shields.

I got 7 days to die way back when the terrain was still blocks. After enjoying the game thoroughly I did put forth money towards the company and essentially investing in them. It wasn’t the lightest amount of money either. And as an investor I’d personally prefer to not see the game I poured a lot of extra money into be sold 10 years later for nearly $50. I already own the game, but even still I firmly believe the price is being marked up far too high. The games good don’t get me wrong, but unless this update transforms it into near triple A quality (which I don’t see happening) it would never be worth the marked up prices.

Bad news for console owners of 7 Days to DieHowever, in 2017—due to Telltale going bankrupt—the console ports of 7 Days to Die stopped receiving updates and have mostly been left abandoned by The Fun Pimps, even after the studio got control of the ports in 2019.

Whatever PC Hardware you have for 1.0 will be needed to update for the 2.0 which will be in the first quarter of 2005

A lot of people defending TFP here seem to not understand the whole context of why console people are upset. Hell a lot of console people themselves aren't familiar with the better reasons why they should be upset.

TFP claim they had to buy the rights from dead Telltale, and that it took years-long legal litigation and a LOT of money to get it back. In reality it probably didn't cost nearly what they make it sound, was something they could absolutely pay for given continued console sales (and even a price hike) from people misled by PC update trailers, and they failed to tell console players they had the console rights in hand again for months/years despite claiming the opposite and that that was why they couldn't update it.

Admittedly a lot of the above is conjecture, but when TFP's communication is so bad and the lead dev Joel is such a blabbermouth that makes failed promises while also being tightlipped on others, people are going to fill in the blanks.

Yeah you go from Alpha One to Alpha 19 and then you go from 1.0 to 7.0 and then it'll be 7 Days to Die 2030 and they'll finally have Traders lips moving

What's messed up is that the new console version won't support split screen. My wife and I have been playing split screen on ps4 since 2017. Every year waiting for a console update. Finally get one, we have to pay for it, and it won't even have split screen anymore. The kicker is I also have the game on PC, but cross platform won't come until "Q4" 2024, which means either Q3 2025 or never. So despite having paid for 2 versions, literally buying a ps5 once 1.0 was announced, we won't be able to play split screen on any new versions past alpha 14 from the old console version, and at best will be waiting a minimum of 6 months to be able to play cross Gen. And by that point there will be things the PC version has that console doesn't because developers have such a hard on for PC.

I started playing this game back in in early 2015 and it is definitely not what it used to be. It feels more like a looter-shooter now than an open world survival game
