Don't mind me, I'm just on my way to get alcohol cleaning pad thingys

I was sniffling alcohol pads during one of my csections. It was amazingly helpful. Funniest part was when I asked the anesthesiologist for another alcohol pad and my doctor said on the other side of the curtain, "are you giving my patient alcohol during surgery?!" We all had a good laugh 😂

In the US you can get Dramamine quick dissolve for kids. (Gravol is what it's called in Canada)

Went to ER for worst migraine of my life, heavy nausea, light, sound, and smell hypersensitivity. ER nurse used to be a EMT and tried the isopropyl trick without warning. I almost projectile vomited. Sensitive smell during pregnancy said NOPE F that. Doesn’t work for everyone and definitely ask to try something before shoving a strong smell in patient’s face. He apologized and we moved on but that was not a fun ride. Was given pregnancy safe migraine medication via IV and finally got some sleep.

I knew about the alcohol pad because when during a c-section I got really nauseous and thought I was gonna puke during the surgery n they put one of them under my nose. Worked great!

Isopropyl alcohol did not work for me. I had major surgery, instead of putting zofran in my IV the nurse decided to sign me up for this "study" they were doing with post-op patients and opted to stick rubbing alcohol right under my nose. The alcohol burned my nostrils, made my eyes burn and I started coughing, which I had been cut breast bone to pubic bone, ribs separated apart, filled my abdominal cavity with 107° chemotherapy, quick sewn up, had the chemo shaken for a bit, opened back up, chemo sucked out and then finished sewn up for good. The coughing caused such severe pain it made me dry heave, which increased the pain even more. My doctor was PISSED OFF! I'm delirious with pain, nausea and exhaustion and can still hear him cussing her out for "TRYING SOME STUPID STUDY ON MY FUCKING PATIENTS INSTEAD OF GIVING THE MEDICINE PRESCRIBED AS SOON AS IT WAS TIME." This was in 2010 and no cancer has returned, so the procedure worked for me! But I wouldn't use rubbing alcohol on people who are unable to speak.

I have some chewy ginger candy called Gin Gins that I suck on if I have nausea. Ginger works very well

Literally would rather have a week long cold than a 24 hour bug. This is good info.

I did know these tricks, but I’m a retired nurse who worked labor and delivery so I took care of many a naueated patient. The isopropyl alcohol trick has saved me personally many times.

As a Recovery Room nurse, I knew about 3 inhalations of an alcohol pad for nausea. The other medication is new to me. If you don’t have an alcohol pads, hand sanitizer will work in a pinch. ❤❤❤

I just happened across this video while sick with a stomach thing. I’ve been miserable all day, unable to keep anything down, not even water. Had my partner run up to the store for dramamine and I feel so much better. Not 100% yet, but at least I’m not vomiting every 15 mins. This came at the perfect time, thank you. I never knew dramamine could be used for more than motion sickness.

The smelling alcohol tip definitely helps a ton!
I have Crohn's disease and part of my symptoms is that I'm nauseous 24/7.
During covid, I noticed that whenever I put on hand sanitizer (which Is mostly alcohol), I'd feel way less nauseous! I even felt hungry sometimes! And that's rare for me too!
Nowadays I always carry a bottle of hand sanitizer in my bag 😊 I put a bit on my hands and sniff it when needed.
I don't do this too often because I can't imagine it being good for you, but it's great in a pinch! I use it most often while traveling by bus
