"When I first moved into the car, I was like, this is crazy. Am I really doing this?"

When you think of someone sleeping in their car as a means to an end, you imagine an RV, a trailer, a roof tent, perhaps even a simple SUV with enough room to stretch out and keep all your belongings safe and within close reach. In this case however, Cyril Soliman decided he would embark on a journey far removed from any semblance of #vanlife or anything related. Instead, this was his idea of how to save money for post-college career goals while also saving enough money to buy wheels, coilovers, and much more for his beloved Nissan 240SX.

This is the story of how he got to where he is now.

Words can't describe how grateful I am for the feature. A huge thank you to Tom for capturing this story beautifully. And to Kyle, thank you for providing a platform on The Drive.

"I would spare them the worry of the journey of me living in the car" That hits deep. Men will go through unspeakable things; but worry about others being worried about them. Good man.

That car has 80, 000 miles and 800, 000 seat miles.

Amazing story. Before watching I thought it was going to be a story about a kid who made poor life choices yet wanted to waste money on their car. Instead it's an inspiring story of determination and perseverance to succeed by any means.

At any moment in his journey he could have asked his parents for more help but chose to do it his way. Congrats young man. 👏

As someone who lived out of their S13 for 6 months, I can vouch for the 240sx being a good home. The S13 Hatch is the most superior mobile home out of all the S-chassis. I could lean my seat all the way to pretty much flat and the hatch fit all of my clothes, blankets, dresser and a few spare tires. I don’t miss those times but don’t regret going through that.

At this point this is how you have to attain your dream car. Since there's no way I can afford rent and a good car

The epitome of "you can't drive a house, but you can sleep in the car".

You won’t understand how it is sleeping in the car, until you go through it. I wish the best for this dude! So humble

Man, you made that dream a reality! I’m fighting my hardest to get a Toyotabaru ‘Twin’ for the past 13 years! Relationships, job hardship, debt etc. have been in my way but I’m almost done paying off my current car which I’ll use for a trade in! I love this story!

Sometimes you have to do what you have to do. No shame in it. I commend it. Stunning car!

Everyday car stories may not be as flashy as what YouTubers showcase, but they’re the backbone of the community. It’s the passion and shared experiences of regular enthusiasts that keep it strong and thriving.

PS: I used to sleeping in my 1988 prelude 4ws, I can still feeling the New York wind from that big door gap😅

Carisma is one of my favorite content out right now in the automotive YouTube space, was a surprise to see a feature for someone on the team.

Would love to see more content about people who work at drive

Why is this video uncomfortably very comforting. Why do I know I could be happy and comfortable doing this despite happily renting with a good job and life now.

"Spare them the worry... becuase its already in the past" is such a young Filipino mindset.

Doesn't matter if you're from the east or west, Filipinos my age literally think the same

Very humble story! Grew up on the same street your dad. I also slept for 2wks a couple times in my AE86. Its sad this car culture is obsolete. Im now in my 50s. Today, most of this generation-20s don't have the mindset of being in the garage, under the hood, constantly searching for parts, and to rebuild cars of the past.

Oak Green Metallic on those wheels looks fantastic. The only thing that is a bit "much" visually is the exhaust.
