Rosetta Stone Chinese Review

I review Rosetta Stone Chinese. I've recently started using it as there aren't any other comprehensible input style courses available for Mandarin Chinese.

Rosetta Stone isn't overpriced anymore. 200 dollar one time purchase for EVERY language. I used the Japanese one years ago (I study Japanese through anime and manga now 😂) but I'm considering purchasing the bundle.
I'm not currently learning Chinese I just was curious how the Chinese course was.

What you say about speech recognition is quite interesting for me. For the last years I promoted the Esperanto version of the Mozilla Common Voice project that builds up a dataset of spoken sentences to help programmers create speech recognition software. And one of my arguments was always: "This could some day lead to an Esperanto pronunciation trainer for apps like Duolingo." Hearing now that all these pronunciation trainers just measure the rhythm of the words waters down this argument quite a bit^^

When they (publishers/authors) miss a trick my mind gets to thinking "gosh they missed a trick here" and it's then gotta get back onto learning. Lolz.

Thanks for the review! I just finished the trial and still deciding whether to subscribe. I too like the comprehensive input, but for me starting at zero it really seems to accelerate and I had a hard time trying to find a pace where I wasn’t getting overwhelmed. I may still try a month or two. I agree on some of the pictures being unclear. Another problem with the picture matching is that it doesn’t work well on a phone (too small to see clearly).

What level does the course go up to? Is it useful for intermediate students?

Assume it's a female speaker? I'm discovering like 95% of Chinese instructors/programs are female for some reason and as a guy I actually struggle understanding the tones not hearing them in a deeper voice to mimic.
