Julia Morris vs Nathan Morris in Morris Dancing

Comedian and House Husbands star, Julia Morris, joined Nova’s Nathan, Nat and Shaun in studio, but it wasn’t just for a chat and a giggle.

Julia Morris shares the same surname as Nathan, so it seemed the perfect opportunity to pit one Morris against another Morris, in what else but a Morris dance challenge!
Morris dance is a form of English folk dance, based on rhythmic stepping, with dancers usually wearing bells on their knees and shins to ward of the devils.
According to Terry from Morris dancing group ‘Perth Morris Men’ it’s unheard of for women participate in Morris dance, therefore Julia was deemed to be an honorary man for the morning.
As Morris dance is all about fertility and the ripening of the crops, dancers traditionally wear hats covered in spring flowers and seeds.
Nathan was quick to remark “so this is why women don’t do the dance, you’d be pregnant before you know it, it’s so powerful”.
“You cannot believe how much I don’t want be blessed again” quipped Julia.
Implements such as sticks are also often wielded by the dancers to symbolise swords.
