This video can be seen as a full combat guide or battle guide that explains all the new battle systems in Atelier Ryza 2. This took longer to make than I expected but thankfully this is because the combat system of Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy has been improved by a lot over Atelier Ryza 1. And let's be honest, that one was already pretty good! I first talk about the battle fundamentals and then go deeper into each separate system in an easy and structured way. By the end of the video you know all you need to know about the battle systems in Atelier Ryza 2 so you can enjoy it to the fullest!

I highly advice to watch this video in its entirety, but in case you need them I've made your life easier by adding timestamps below!

This story takes place three years after the events of the previous game “Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout,” and depicts the reunion of Ryza and her friends, who go through new encounters and goodbyes to discover a true priceless treasure.

《The Story》
Three years have passed since Ryza’s secret grand adventure on Kurken Island. Ryza, the only member of her group to remain on the island, receives a letter from her friend telling her about ruins that may be related to alchemy, along with a mysterious request involving a glowing stone. This inspires her to leave the island and venture out to the royal capital, Ashra-am Baird. However, Ryza is unaware that this will lead to the beginning of an imaginative new adventure involving a pursuit of the mysteries of the ruins surrounding the royal capital and a meeting with a strange creature that will change her life.

《Main Features》
■ Exploring with new field actions!
Ryza can now perform many new actions in the field, including diving underwater, using plants to climb walls, moving through narrow gaps, and using magic ropes to travel between separated areas. These and other abilities allow Ryza to explore various areas and ruins more fully and actively.
■ More action-filled real-time battles!
Take on your enemies using an improved “real-time tactics” battle system, which is now faster and more thrilling than ever. Speedily switch between characters, choose varied skills, and utilize items in just the right moments for best results.
■ Straightforward and easy-to-use synthesis!
Utilize several new synthesis systems, including the new intuitive “Linkage Synthesis” system where items are placed in cells called “Material Loops”, that are designed to allow both new players to easily learn synthesis, and experienced players to create unique customized items. Created items can also be mixed and matched with “Evolution Link” to create entirely new items.

To be honest I love the new combat system. It's a lot of fun and quite easier than the previous one. Especially with the chain and also the core charges. I was confused when I was playing last night when I couldn't use my items to charge my CC. I didn't understand that it charges in battle and I don't need to recharge it with unused items. I love that I don't have to do that anymore. It's definitely a good change. This vid is really helpful. Thank you so much!

More for total newbie:

Q : where to get the "+" / "++" version of skills. --- A : level up / do the party quests
Q : what do they do. --- A : the + version have xtra effects aside from different animations, see formation/status > open status screen > hit [X] to toggle the skill page
Q : how to trigger "+" / "++" version of skills. --- A : you need to execute the non + version first and you will see the skill list text change to + version. (do not release [RB] !!)
Q : how to properly execute a chain. --- A : start with [B] button for normal attack if want to, then quickly HOLD [RB], pick a skill quickly, eg : [X] - if you have a "+" version of the skill, spam [X] a second time to execute it, continue selecting skills until you ran out of AP, then quickly spam [LB] to switch to standby character, KEEP [RB] HOLDED!!, then start picking skills to execute again.

*Example : [B] - [RB - [X] - [X] - [A] - ran out AP >> SPAM [LB >> [X] - [X] - [A] - till you ran out AP*

Think of the [LB] as the "SWITCH" action you seen in anime like SAO. Frankly I probably will welcome a "50% slower" game mode... 😆😆 it is a bit too fast...

Thanks! I had stopped midway throughout Ryza 2 as I went to play Sophie 2 and Blue Reflection 2.

Now that I've finished those two, I'm back to finish Ryza 2 and found that I had forgotten so much of how the combat worked, and the game ingame guide is a bit too superficial on some aspects. This video was a great refresher.

i'm playing the steam version of the game and anyone else getting a weird switching characters bug?
it only switches between two and it doesn't stick to the one you switch. like i have to hold the left trigger to stay on the other character

Why is there no explanation of how you engage enemies and they become powered up? Im pretty sure there was a tutorial about in the beginning of the game..like enemies combine before battle?
