Peter’s Banded Skinks Care

Peter's banded skinks (Scincopus fasciatus) are one of the most charming and charismatic of all reptiles. Once established they are hardy, personable, and fairly simple to care for. The catch? We haven't figured out how to breed them yet! In this video I share how I care for them and how I hope to be able to breed them.

I love these so much! We need more breeders working with these, because they are outstanding pets.

Had no idea that people haven't figured out how to breed these guys. They're definitely gorgeous and well tamed for wild caught.
They're a species on my wish list. But I'm gunna wait til you crack the code on how to successfully breed them.

This is my favorite reptile and must be bred. They could dominate the reptile pet game.

Absolutely one of my favorite lizards!! I've been reluctant to purchase one though just because of the wild caught aspect. I believe If anyone will successfully be able to breed these you're definitely the one. Best believe I'll be ordering one once that's possible lol

Found you through looking for Schneider's Skinks! Peter's skinks are another species I would really like to work with and plan on getting my hands on some hopefully in time we can come together and produce captive bred off spring

I'm really happy to see that someone is putting their time into this species.

Unfortunately I got mine at a reptile expo before knowing they we’re only wild caught, however mine seems healthy and happy and I’ll make sure to take the best care For him.

I really like them, but I'm not going the wild caught route. These and pink tongue are my favorite pet lizards.
I'm astounded that no one has tried breeding the broad headed skink.Where I used to live, one big guy would sun himself on the step. I could put my foot down next to him and he would just look up at me and not bother to move. They are quite attractive as well and I think they would make amazing pets...But I really like skinks, so there ya go.

Have you, could you do a video on acclimating this species? I have bought them twice, took them immediately to my veterinarian and still lost 3 of 5 and 5 of 12. Way too costly and heartbreaking. I keep mine hotter than you stated here, I am going to cool it a bit. But a video about acclimation would maybe help thousands of these stay alive. Your daughter needs to do more videos! Adorable.

I find it hard to believe we can’t get some footing in their habitat to study what they eat, what the prey items eat, so forth, I read they have a few areas they inhabit there.

A woman in America was able to breed them and she said she had them in pure sand and 110 on half the inclosure. Their YouTube channel was called reptile rapture and I think you might want to get in touch with her
