Today I'm taking a look at the state of the quirky Wii channels we had back in the 7th generation and how they're actually backing and fully working thanks to the community.

There's really never been a reason that Nintendo couldn't revive the Everybody Votes channel on the Switch. The concept could even evolve by introducing some polls that have real life stakes, but fun ones (like which of two characters should be introduced next in Smash).

It’s crazy how old the Wii is now man, ugh I feel so old haha. The Wii was one of my first online devices, I remember when I first got it connected to the internet through our apartment complex’s free Wi-Fi and got access to software updates for the first time and being able to use the internet and all these channels. It was all so awesome for the time. Seeing the blue glow around the disc drive whenever there was some update or something was also so cool too. I just modded my 3DS the other day so it’s super coincidental seeing this now haha. Wish I knew how the Everybody Votes channel worked at the time, I never really understood it as a kid. Also really wish I knew more about online games, would’ve loved to play Mario Kart Wii competitively online, probably would’ve gotten destroyed as a kid and raged, but still haha.

When the Wii was new, I remember turning it on in the morning and checking out the news and weather channels. It was novel, and kind of a relaxing start to the day.

So I work in services. And I go into a bunch of people's houses pretty much every day. I would estimate that of my customers, at least 80% of them have a Wii inside their homes. And they still play it. I guess that goes to show how good a console that Nintendo produced. In my opinion probably the best console they've ever produced
