Math class was always so frustrating for me. I’d go to a class, spend hours on homework, and three days later have an “Ah-ha!” moment about how the problems worked that could have slashed my homework time in half. I’d think, “WHY didn’t my teacher just tell me this in the first place?!”

you divide both sides by -0.8y and multiply both sides by dx to get the ys on the left and the xs on the right. then you can integrate. :)

Thank you so much. I didn't have any major problems with math all the way through precalculus. But calculus has been more of a challenge, not because it's that much more difficult, but because of the difficulty finding an understandable explanation. I've search high and low on the internet and this is the best site I've found for learning calculus. You explain it in plain english in a way that I can understand. It's also hard to find a good book on the subject. But I finally did.

If you taken trig, I'd start there. If you have, try a pre-calc class, which is taught in high school and college and usually covers the same material. :)

The du, or dx, drops away when you integrate because they represent the change in u, or x, respectively. In other words, the derivative. So when you take the integral, since it's the opposite of the derivative, that notation drops away. Hope that helps!! :D
