*** There is a mistake at 7:30 - when rewriting the polynomial using exponents I change a square root for being positive to making it negative! I should not have changed the sign!!

@Anoshh50 properties of exponents; if you move the 1/x^n, you get 1/x^n = x^(-n)

Omg thank you foe this! You just saved me a day of relearning everything when all i had to know is what makes something so it isn't a polynomial

Thanks Mitch, you are correct, poly means many and nomials means terms. Polynomial means many terms. Now all I have to do is learn how to determine if an expression is a polynomial or not. Cue hours of youtube videos... :-)

omg, Patrick.   Thank you soooo much!  You just saved me a full evening of unnecessarily trying to figure why I don't understand how to tell what is or isn't a polynomial when all the book had to do was explain it this way!   Gees.  Honestly I think these vague, imprecise explanations are done on purpose to make mathematics harder than it really is!   Thank you so much again.

Negative pi in your first example. I like your style!

Are monomials considered polynomials (even though mono means "one" and poly means "many") because in actuality, -x^3 can be thought of as -x^3 + 0x^2 + 0x^1 + 0x^0?

What are the effects/connotations of a non-polynomial function or equation? Is it not possible to, say, differantiate/find the derivative of a non-polynomial? do they have any uses, and what to do with them if you happen to run into them?

Great video thanks Patrick. Just a quick question, the word polynomial, does it just mean 'many terms'? i.e. two or more terms

patrick quick question: for number 3, if you multiply everything by x^2 wouldn't you get a polynomial? 2x^12+5-8x^2 ?

At 2:51 why did you subtract x? I thought x was added
