Thanks for posting this. We have the second type of value. If the handle is at 6 o’clock, by the time we move it to 11:00 we only get cold water, but when moving beyond 11:00 o’clock, the water quickly goes to boiling hot, just a few millimeters of moving the handle gets us a huge difference between warm and boiling hot. So, within a few millimeters of moving the handle it’s very difficult to find the desired temperature.

I adjusted the orange ring and now the water does get hotter, but at the point it gets hotter the pressure drops to the point that the shower will not kick on. I have to turn the shower head on with the water cold, then turn it to hot once the shower is already running. Any suggestions?

I didn’t turn the water off first and as soon as I got the spicket off it started shooting water out everywhere with no way to turn it off

Do I need to shut off the water to unscrew that first piece?

Too fast and your hand is blocking site of the valve.
