As a Chinese I would say these questions are selected from the easist ones. These would be a 送分题for Chinese students

One Chinese student trick: we always start from the easiest ones to ensure we get them all within the time limit.

Actually Chinese students diverge to two different groups to take Gaokao. We called "文“ and ”理“ （means liberal arts and nature science）
So you guys really don't need to take history and physics at the same time.

I didn't know Sheldon graduated from the University of Waterloo ME coop program..and with a gpa of 3.7....well that just changed my impression on Sheldon...

I’ve finished my high school in China and moved to the US for college and became a TA for Calc. I gotta admit that the most evil thing I’ve done was probably translating those math problems on Gao Kao and put them on the exams I give to my students (freshman or sophomore) and be like “oh well u know what, this is something that anyone wants to get into college needs to know how to solve in China 😉”

As a Chinese student, those questions are the easiest.

The GPS one was tricky. Your first thought is to immediately dismiss it because you think "no, that's not what GPS is for, " but then you think about it and realize that while that's not what it's most commonly known for, yeah, if I were trying to measure the movement of continents that's what I'd use.

For the chemistry question, they did not give any hints for the Y element so it was automatically the answer comparing only X, Z and W (d)

For the complex number math question, the answer is (1/2 - i/2) which is in the 4th quadrant not first.

The answer key for the first math question 4:13 seems fishy, isn't it suppose to be the fourth quadrant because z = (1-i)/2
