I stopped finding the age gap creepy because reading Midnight Sun makes it really clear that Edward truly is 17 and has been seventeen for a while. As in, he has the brain of a teenager, his frontal lobe is not fully developed. He will never grow up and I guess neither will Bella

Carley, Midnight Sun is a crack fic. You have to give it a whirl at least once. Highlights below:

The most wild part of it is that the cultural zeitgeist has changed so much since she wrote Twilight. She had every opportunity to reframe what happened in the original books to meet the criticisms people have had for YEARS about the books and Edward as a romantic lead. Instead, she doubled down and made Edward EVEN MORE PROBLEMATIC. Truly, a feat.
