This issue has plagued me with my R, F, and V keys for a month, but since my laptop is nearly 7 years old, I attributed it to its age. Turns out this was a technical/driver problem! Thanks for the help!

I had a problem with "R" and "Y" keys, and some numbers. Always the same keys... I refreshed the keyboard driver and it was enough! Windows said that I had the latest version of the driver and now the keyboard is working perfectly! Thanks!!!

I have a Satellite C55-A and it's been doing the same thing, but with the keys y, r, 3, and 5 and I've been using copy and paste to type coherent sentences since they've stopped working in general...

I had both the mouse and keyboard dysfunctional on my mother's laptop. I was lucky enough to have a touch screen on it, I had to uninstall both the keyboard and MOUSE THEN REFRESH /RESTART THE COMPUTER. I had all useless programs uninstalled and now it works 5x better as it did before I had started to repair it.

This didn't work for me. So I decided to pry off just the keys that don't work well, used "electronic component" spray over the circuitry area lightly and soak up remaining spray to keep from getting clogged later on, snapped the keys back in place without issue, now it works great! I only had 5 keys that "kinda" worked if I punched on them really hard to get it to work. After I sprayed, they all work like new again without having to "punch hard" on the keys anymore to get it to work.
My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite L775D-S7107 made in 2012 with Windows 7 I still enjoy using...when I HAVE TO because 10 has compatibility issues with my old software!
Thank you Sir for the tutorial and sharing.

and if my PS/2 keyboard driver is recently installed and updated, is there something I can do? I found a growing difficulty to use X, C, V keys and I fear is a hardware trouble. Despite I changed all the keyboard support less than a year ago. :-/

I think I have a different problem. I thought it was the drivers until the T key literally came off. I also notice that some keys are now deeply recessed compared to others. I don't know whether the part underneath they snap into needs to be replaced or the keys themselves, but I think this is th keys not making correct contact and either skipping letters I type or creating duplicate letters. I am having to do lots of correcing to make senteces make sense. I won't here so you can see how it looks. Sometimes it looks even worse than this.

Lately I have no luck and have come to rely upon a nice external keyboard plugged in via USB port of my Satellite S55-C. In the past year or more I've gone back and uninstalled the built-in keyboard on my Toshiba Satellite S55-C as suggested in the video above with mixed success. Sometimes had to re-try the process several times as the behavior upon reboot was not always consistent. Frequently a uninstall/reboot results in the same problem. Then it sometimes seemed finally the corrupt drivers were over-written and it worked PEFECT. So I've fought it like this multiple times. Sometimes upon reboot I had NO KEYBOARD and then rebooted repeatedly until the keyboard reinstalled and worked fine. Like I said, Lately I have no luck and have come to rely upon a nice external keyboard plugged in via USB port. My belief is that I may need a complete fresh reinstallation of Windows 10 or MAYBE the computer's BIOS needs to be updated or checked. The external keyboard gets me by GREAT except when I travel and have to drag it off my desk and into public.

If your laptop keyboard is not working with some keys, try using the on-screen keyboard. Turn on your laptop, go on ease of access, click on on-screen keyboard to turn on, and you're now ready to go.

Didn't work for spacebar/escape key/tab key not working, but I found another solution. The touch pad needs to be disabled as follows. Task bar (bottom of screen) right-hand side/Show Hidden Icons/Pointing Device/Pointing Device Properties/Device Settings/Synaptics TouchPad/Disable/OK. Hope this helps. :o)

I followed the steps exactly- it prompts me to restart, then I do - it restarts and prompts me to restart again, then I do. After the 2nd restart the keyboard is still there - still not working properly. Is it uninstling the keyboard and reinstalling it that quickly without my knowledge?
