The World Tonight: The Department of National Defense assures the public that it would continue to monitor the West Philippine Sea after it was reported that hundreds of Chinese vessels were sighted near Pag-asa Island (Thitu).

Whynot just lease Pag Asa Island and Itbayat island at Batanes to the US for 100 dollars a month? US needs bases, and we admittedly also need their protection, its a win win situation National pride would be appeased by the nominal rent and moreover, it would mostlikely fast track the development of these islands. The locals in particular and the whole country in general would clearly benefit from such a venture.
