I think I have a director five now cuz I was struggling with who to take out of my six but since McQueen doesn’t seem that likely an option, I’m currently predicting:
- Sean Baker
- Brady Corbet
- Denis Villeneuve
- Jacques Audiard
- RaMell Ross

I can see Saoirse Ronan a double nominee. She has the name recognition within the Academy.

Er, Steve McQueen's place of residence has been Amsterdam for quite a long time now...

I do think they were pantomine villains because it was the kids POV. I do agree with some of what you said but I still enjoyed it alot. sure its not McQueen's best but it was still solid to me

Everything I hear about this film, aside from the racial element, makes me think of John Boorman's 1987 film, Hope and Glory, which was nominated for 5 Oscars including Best Picture. The racial element sounds interesting. Of course, Boorman was drawing from his own childhood experiences of the Blitz, refracted through his adult eyes (like the understanding later in life that his mother was having an affair) which I think enabled that film to seem less like a strictly family film, even though it was told from a child's p.o.v. You have to check it out if you haven't seen it.

This sounds kinda ridiculous 😆 I think I’ll skip it

It's woke, so I'll be skipping it. My family lived through the Blitz. They never called the Germans 'Nazis' and they did not see any black people in London. Why make race the focal point out of the millions of people who WERE there and stuck by their city and kept the country going in awful times ?

Ronan could be nominated

Elliot effernan could win critics choice younger performer award. Seems like his only competition is the young man from didi

Maybe you should think about skipping these three questions at the end and just give the rating. Nobody cares if you would watch a movie again; if it's a good rating you usually would, obviously. The second question is even more pointless because when it comes to recommending a movie, you often say it depends on who the viewer is. Yeah, of course, that's always the case, isn't it? Besides, we know that a good rating usually means you recommend the movie, what could be more obvious than that? I often skip the first two questions because they're so boring and pointless. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy your reviews but this would improve the channel in my opinion.
