It's gotten cold outside. Are you complaining about being shut in yet? Say thanks that you don't live in the north, specifically in Oymyakon, Sakha Republic, Russia! Or the equally horrible Antarctic Vostok station.
The low temperatures in Oymyakon greatly depend on its geography. It's in basin that mountain air flows down into. In January, the temperatures there can be about -45.5 ºF for weeks on end, so it's no surprise that this is called the coldest town in the world. Their record low was -57.3 ºF!!!

Canada and Alaska also have some up north population. It seems like Russians have more extreme cold living places than any other nation
