Thank you. From my experience with WD External USB Drives such as 'My Passport' are high-risk storage options, and recovery a 'racket' from Slow-Response and the USB connections incredibly fragile. Even the latest 2020 mfg 'My Passport' USB connector started to fail after 12 insertions. If you are using these drives for archiving data I recommend doing so on at least one extra drive.

Simply do NOT buy the garbage from WD! Just buy SSD with enclosure

Man you must be paid the big bucks since you have a very special set of skills and knowledge not many other people have

Wow, these really arent like legos anymore, proprietary everything with unitasking possibility. No wonder it was under $40 for 4 TB. I just want to turn this portable into an internal, wish there was some kind of adapter cable or replacement pcb board that turns it to sata with appropriate firmware to just buy under $10.

, fundamental rule to avoid data recovery : backup, backup, backup 1 copy to use, 2nd copy to keep safe, 3rd copy to keep even safer in a diferent building

Huh. The sound cuts out in the middle?

I don't know why WD and Toshiba solder the bridge on the drive. If the bridge dies, you have to do humongous work to make it working again. The Seagates just have a PCB that's simply plugged on the SATA connector.

Anyways, interesting video! :)

Can I just re-solder the USB 3.0 port so I can just retrieve the data? Nice Metallica shirt by the way!

Awesome job, would love to see the same procedure on the newest, bulky 5TB 2.5" drives

Can you post what kind of wire do you use? Great video by the way!

I like how you say "A few things worth mentioning.." and then nothing but silence the rest of the video.

5:55 to 7:30 The video has been muted. Probably a cease and desist order from Western Digital.

main reason i don't like to buy external hard drives anymore. better buy them separate in enclosure and hdd.
