QUICK TIP: Render Motion Studies

Never send a manager or customer a standard CAD animation again. In this Quick Tip video, the Autodesk Fusion 360 team demonstrates how to show your design functions with motion studies. The team also teaches how to render that motion study using the cloud.

The motion study in this video utilizes joints to move the assembly. We can select the joints we want to include in our motion study out of the graphics area or the joints folder. Multiple joints can be selected to simulate different types of kinematic motion in this assembly. In the Motion Study window, the steps are along the x-axis, which can be thought of as time. The y-axis will be either distance or rotation, depending on the type of joint selected. If another joint is selected, another line will be presented to manipulate that motion in time the same way as the linear motion for the build plate assembly. There will be a new folder in the browser with the motion study once it is complete. Several motion studies can be created to illustrate different types of motion based off the joints in this assembly.

To create a photorealistic video of this motion study, we will enter the rendering workspace to produce a cloud rendering of the view we want the motion study to create. Let's choose the resolution and render it in the cloud. Once the image is complete, select the thumbnail of the image in the rendering gallery. Fusion 360 provides the option of either creating a turntable animation or rendering a motion study. It is possible to change a few parameters, as well, such as the resolution or which motion study to render. The completed video can be found in the rendering gallery and the motion study rendering can then be downloaded as an mp4.

Love waiting 20 minutes to render this on someone else's computer rather than spending 5 minutes rendering it locally. Such innovation!

Local motion study rendering really needs to be implemented.

It would be great if there was an option to add more than 100 steps during the motion study. I find the limited amount of steps can add unnecessary jerkiness to the rendered video, especially for longer sequences of animation. Any way Fusion could make the total number of steps an option?

To bad we cannot render locally. Do you guys expect to add that function in the future?

Why on earth can't I render this locally? Why is it COMPLETELY hidden like that? none of that makes any sense.
Your cloud rendering isn't available right now btw :) So I can't even render a motion study even if I wanted to. Great stuff.

I don't get that play button, how do you make it appear? I did render a photo, but there's no play button to select?

The limit to only render in the cloud is a complete and utter flaw. I tried your software, but i will not recommend it, due to its very cloud-heavy operation. I rather do my whole project again from scratch in another software, than waste my time on somthing, that could be so easy

It's incredibly lame that you guys won't allow users to render motion studies locally, even when they own a license. What a disgusting bit of greed, making us pay for credits.

Can we render an animation in fusion 360 ?

Hi there, this great material. Iam looking way to render my animation? Id like to have raytraced look of my camera animation? Do you know how it is done? Thanks!

as a TARDIS interior designer, this is the worst possible way to animate, but it works so I'm used to it

This is awesome. Unfortunately it will also cost you about $5000 to do. What nonsense.
