QUICK TIP: Render Your Fusion 360 CAM Paths

Want to know how your CAD part is actually going to machine? Differences in cam paths, step over values, and tool diameters can make all the difference in what a part ends up actually looking like. This tip video by Fusion 360 Evangelist Mike Aubry shows how Fusion's CAM and Rendering functionality work together to help you get highly accurate visualization that help you really understand what your parts will look like before you ever commit to machining them.

This is absolutely fantastic. With this I can actually examine the cut wooden part and evaluate if its possible to sand it down or if the toolpath needs adjusting, BEFORE i cut. Previously this uncertainty was remedied by experience only.

Hey Mike, this was Awesome!. Are there any plans to add the function back into Fusion..all I get is crappy STL triangular mesh renders now and have to use Meshmixer and or 3DSMax Quadrify to try to get a quad body to render but have lost the CNC rest details at that point. UPDATE: So I reviewed your video again and found that adding the 3D Wood in Appearance was the step I missed..seems to work as described w/ the 3D wood.

How could I render the simulation in an animation? I am making a very complicated part for my thesis on a manual lathe but I want to present all the operations in a clean manner (I have made the setups in CAM except I'm getting some boogers with using the secondary spindle function as it doesn't seem to retract away from the stock in the primary spindle in the simulation).

Had no idea you could save the machined stock and do this. Awesome, thanks.

This is an awesome idea! I think this will be helpful for me in the future!

How come when I save my simulation it is 10x scale when I Import it?

Have this: "Error Failed to save Stock" :/
Real nice video!!
