In this video, I'm testing the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X vs the AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D with the Nvidia RTX 4070 12GB in different games like Fortnite and Cyberpunk. The AMD Ryzen 7 5800X came out in 2020, it has 8 cores with 16 threads, the base frequency is 3.8GHz and the turbo frequency is 4.7GHz. The R7 5800X has a TDP of 105W and has a transistor size of 7 nm. The AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D came out in the beginning of 2024, it has 8 cores with 16 threads, the base frequency is 3.0GHz and the turbo frequency is 4.1GHz. The R7 5700X3D has a TDP of 105W and has a transistor size of 7 nm. The Nvidia RTX 4070 12GB came out in 2023, it has 12GB of GDDR6X memory with a memory speed of 21Gbps and a bandwith of 192 bits. It has 5888 cuda cores with a base speed of 1.92GHz and a turbo frequency of 2.49GHz.

So basically, if you're buying a 4070 go with 5800x its cheaper most of the time with sales, but 5700x3d is more future proof, but if you are worried about future proof, then am5 upgrade is the way to go

All games seem to be on single player or benchmark mode, except Cs. The 5700x3d really shines in games with a lot of things going on in the background, like large map multiplayer games or large strategy games or city builder type games. On single player games they are almost identical, so take that into acount and choose depending on what you use more.

So basically same results with a current gen mid-high range card. Not many are going to put a 4090 with a 5800x or 57/800x3d.

my undervolted 100w limited (heat) 4850 mhz oc'd 5700x gives out the same performance of 5800x so im happy

5700x3d heats on average 10 degrees less

Will 5800 non X with -30 PBO obtain same results as 5800X?

Which ryzen will be future proof for rx 7600 xt gigabyte ? I'm currently have i5 9400f and I can upgrade processor to max i7 9700k or i9 9900 but to be honest I start to think to move on amd chipset as maybe my RX will coop better with Ryzen 🤷‍♂️ I will play just 1080p well ocassionally 1440p cheers

Pretty impressive what the 5700x3d can do at a much lower clock and power draw.

Basically, you need to buy a $1600 gpu and run the game on low settings 1080p to see a noticeable difference. Who would do that other than benchmarking?

Not worth it. 5700x is still the best value for am4.

during the CS2 test: did you use fps_max 0 or any other value than the default value of 400? Because neither the CPU nor the GPU are at their respective limits in both cases while both are sitting around suspiciously stable 360fps. Since cs2 utilizes half the amount of threads of a CPU, I would expect the CPU load to be closer to 50% whenever the GPU load isn't anywhere near its limit. So having a CPU load of 30% and a GPU load of 50% simply doesn't make sense to me, unless you were using Vsync or had the fps_max limited to 400

The difference between those two isn't a big deal at max fps, but if you look at stability, you can see a bigger but not a monster difference, the 5700x3d has more stability due to the larger L3 cache, because the frame have lower latency when the CPU calls it from L3 cache in comparison when CPU calls it from RAM. The better choise whould be the one with the better price, in a daily case those two are almost the same.

fake ass test, 5700x3d is better for example in cs2 bc have much more cache, in cs2 more cache = more fps

5800x consumes almost twice the power. 5700x3d has very similar performance with room for more if it was paired with a more powerful gpu. If both were at the same price, I would pick the 5700x3d but 5800x tends to be cheaper than it when on sale so it’s a hard choice.

Should i use the 5700x3d or 5800x ?I'm using a rtx 3060 12gb and i don't know witch one to choose and in my country the 5700x3d is 20€ more expensive compared to 5800x

Great video showing realistic results not 1080p low settings on a 4090

The power seems pretty high on 5800x (like 110w at 50%...) but what is weird is the best performance with the 5800x on CP2077 !
All other benchs I saw had significantly highest fps with 5700x3d !

Only real difference i see is that the r7 5800x CPU is drawing about TWICE the wattage as the 5700x3d

1:53 ouch look at that bottleneck, The 5800X is not letting the 4070 run at full speed. It looks like its time for me to upgrade

im late here but i would say if the prices are nearly the same... go for the x3d... this efficency is like 3 Generations in future

Just got a 5950X as my final AM4 setup with an Intel B580. I don't plan on changing for the next 10 to 15 years.
