Kawai (pronounced Kavai) is my brother-in-law. I loved how this book is in your video and you enjoyed it! All the places he describes in the book, are all exact places of where he was born and raised. So he really describes them well in the book! I sent him the link to this video 😊

The lighting gives a cozy feel, so I had no issue. I'm so glad you read and enjoyed Kindred. I thought you would like it, but, as with some people's personalities, books may not give vibes we enjoy. Thank you for introducing me to T. Kingfisher (at least via What Moves The Dead). I enjoyed it and cannot wait until the live show. Also, I'm done with Sager, but I'm happy to see your joy in reading the book. I've read Luster a few years ago, and while I'm not big on stream-of-consciousness novels, I enjoyed that book too. The Hacienda's been on my bookshelf for a bit now, so I'll read it in October. I dnf'd Our Crooked Hearts (Couldn't get into it) and I gave Everyone in This Room Will Soon Be Dead two stars, though. If you haven't read them yet I would *absolutely* recommend Parable of the Sower and Parable of the Talents by her as well. They are easily some of my top books of all time

I chose Sharks in the Time of Saviors as my book club pick this summer, when it was my turn in the group to choose. I felt much the same as you did, but all the other girls truly despised it 🫠 I feel a little validated now - so thank you! 💘

I think you should read Jitterbug Perfume from the 90’s. It’s a story that transcends time. There is a romance underlying the plot, but I swear you will feel smarter when you’re finished. Most of Tom Robbins’ books teach you something new—just random things. It just seems like something that is up your alley.

I still could not be more happy that you read Bunnicula and rated it highly. I absolutely adored the series as a 7-8 year old and can’t wait to read the whole series in October. I especially can’t wait to read the graphic novel!

I read Kindred back in 2014 and I think it's time for a re-read. Especially since so much of Octavia Butler's work is in the midst of being adapted.
