What Judge did is not cheating, even if he was sign stealing the rule only applies to sign stealing while using tools (cameras, phones, Apple Watches, trash cans etc). Many players do this in the league because somebody on the team has an eagle eye. Few pitchers/catchers have even said that if the other team steals their signals without equipment it just means they aren’t doing a good enough job at hiding their signals

Sammy Soso did that once they checked every single one of his other bats and none of them had any of corks in them, and if you read the whole story about it, you would know that that was the only bad that he had corked

The altuve home run is legit. It’s likely he said “no camiza” which is no shirt. Also, there’s evidence to prove he didn’t like sign stealing and was given less trash bangs than any other teammate. Also, josh Reddick had a piece of confetti.

My favorite was the Joe Niekro incident in 1987 where the umps checked him on the mound, and an emery board flew out of his pocket.
The 1994 Albert Belle corked bat incident was also epic. The umps confiscated and locked the bat in the umpires' dressing room, and teammate Jason Grimsley crawled through the ceiling tiles to get into the locked room to swap out the bat with an uncorked one so that Belle wouldn't get caught and banned.

0:20 this isn’t cheating. Stealing signs is part of the game. Using tools or electronics is wrong, but using your eyeballs to check the opposing signs is smart and part of the game.

i remember a game where the Yankees played the Royals, and George Brett was ejected because he had too much pine tar. Brett went ballistic!!!! He made a 40 yard dash.like he was at a track n field event out of the dugout, and came close to assaulting the home plate umpire. Cray cray!

Cork doesnt actually make the ball fly further, rather the opposite, as the bat becomes softer and absorbs more of the ball's impact. The opposite of this is seen with aluminum bats. It does still make the bat lighter though, which comes with all the benefits you might expect, so it's still cheating regardless.

It’s pretty hard to say Judge was cheating and it really wasn’t a scandal. The pitcher could have just been tipping his pitches in a way that the Yankees dugout could see. I had that luxury a few times when a pitcher would grab the ball with a certain grip or do something else that the batter couldn’t see but everyone else could. As long as you not using technology signs and pitches are fair game.

What about Pete Rose managing a team he was actually betting on or against? A team he can change the pitcher or leave in a pitcher too long. For a desperate gambler trying to get out of a hole, this is really game manipulation and as bad as cheating and clearly banned. Its cheating everyone who bet on the game as well. All you really had to know was which way Pete bet on his own team and follow him.
