Reminds me of an animated character from my childhood, Tobor the 8th Man. He was also a robot who was disguised as a human detective. It was a B&W Japanese cartoon from the early sixties, kind of like Astro Boy or Prince Planet. Maybe you could do videos on that Tobor! How cool would THAT be!

I know some folks who are going to love this one. They are big time TOBAR fans.

... when we were kids, we used to stomp on beer cans so they would clamp to the bottom of our shoes, then we'd walk around on the sidewalk clanking just like TOBOR !

For me, there are two movies that stand above the rest when it comes to science fiction in the 1950s: "The Day The Earth Stood Still" and "Forbidden Planet". Both, in my opinion, still stand up quite well today.

I don't remember ever seeing this movie, and I've seen a lot of the sci fi 50s movies. Glad that the prop is intact and in the hands of a collector.

Dan, you might want to consider an episode about the Westinghouse Electric Corporation's "Elektro" robot from the 1939 World's Fair. It now resides in Mansfield, Ohio. Very interesting history.

Oooh, nice video at the end of a workday!
Maybe it's me, but TOBOR's eyes remind me a bit of the robot from 'Saturn 3', Hector.

I love 1950’s sci fi movies but I’ve never seen this movie. I’ve got to find it somewhere. Another great story Dan.

I haven't seen Tobor since it was on Science Fiction Theater in the 70s. Thanks for giving it an overview.

I love watching those old black & white sci-fi moves. I play them EVERY weekend. I’ll be outside doing some work while the movies play on the TV in the garage. I often walk by a see a scene, then sit down and watch a few minutes of it )while sitting in front of a fan to cool off)…then go do some more chores, then sit down again, repeat and repeat. Love those days…

THEM was always one of my favorite B-flicks.
Especially since it had an open ending.

I remember as a kid in Rochester, New York going to Saturday afternoon films and this was one of them. I have to say I totally forgot about this movie and this robot until you brought it back up Dan. Thank you sir.

There was also Tobor the 8th Man black & white cartoon in the 1960s. That will NEVER EVER be repeated on tv again, like Supercar, Fireball XL5, Space Angel & Gigantor of the 1960s.
