Показать описание
Algebraic expressions contain at least one variable. A variable is a letter of the alphabet that takes the place of an unknown amount. The terms of an expression are separated by + and -. A coefficient is a number directly to the left of a variable, which indicates multiplication. The + and - before each term belongs to that term. Like terms are terms with the same variables that are raised to the same powers. We can combine like terms. A variable written without a coefficient actually has an invisible 1 as its coefficient. We need to remember the invisible 1 when we combine like terms. We show how we can generate equivalent expressions by using the different properties of addition and multiplication.
