Thaïs: 'Méditation'

The Met's production of Massent's "Thaïs" opens November 11, 2017 with Ailyn Pérez as Thaïs and Gerald Finley as Athanaël. Here, concertmaster David Chan and the Met Orchestra perform the famous Act II "Méditation" from the 2008 Live in HD transmission.

This version of Thais was stunning in every single way with Renee Fleming as divine goddess, and this beautiful refrain flowing through the opera lifts your soul into Heaven. Amazing gifted violinist. He got his own curtain call and standing ovation. Just beautiful.

It's such an exciting moment, in a violinist's life, to learn and perform this song for the first time. How incredible/momentous/moving an experience this must be for the violinist to now play it with the orchestra.
